Terms & Conditions: Guided and Self-Guided Multi Day Tours

    Reserve a Joy Ride

You can complete the form on our registration page to book a joy ride with us. We require a deposit of $400 per person at the time of registration to guarantee your space. If you are booking within 30 days of departure, full payment is due with your registration. We’ll send you our tour preparation materials, which includes a more detailed trip description, packing list, and waiver form, once we’ve received your registration information and deposit.

    Coming and Going

Our tours begin and end at various Comox Valley hotels.  You’ll find links to air and land transportation on our Getting Here page. Our tours begins at 9:00 am; you may wish to spend the pre-tour night at the hotel that your tour originates, at your own expense.   Our final day comes full circle to end at the starting hotel.  Your transportation to Comox Valley by air, land or water is not included in the tour price and Island Joy Rides cannot be responsible for any travel delays. (Of course, if there’s a problem, just call us – we’ll do our best to make it work!)

Who Can Be a Joy Rider?

We welcome everyone from age 13 and  up (but if you’re under 19, you need to bring a parent). Families wishing to book a tour are encouraged to contact us about our private tours.  We will be happy to design a holiday especially for you.

    Single Joy Riders

Our trip prices are based on double occupancy. If you’re a single rider and would like to share a room, we’ll do our best to match you with a like-minded rider of the same sex. Otherwise, a single supplement will apply.

    Rider Responsibilities

Joy Riders are required to sign a Participant Waiver Form. Island Joy Rides reserves the right to deny participation to any individual prior to or during the trip if this person’s behaviour substantially interferes with the general enjoyment and well-being of other tour members. (That’s our lawyer again!) Island Joy Rides liability in such a case will be limited to the actual cost of the unused services.

    Helmets

Our trip includes the use of a top quality bicycle and helmet. Your safety is crucial to us and so we require you to wear a helmet. (It’s the law in B.C.!) Feel free to bring your own – but feel confident that ours are first rate. For more information about appropriate cycle wear, please refer to our FAQ page.

    Insurance

We highly recommend that all international guests carry medical travel insurance while on our tour. We recommend that you consider trip cancellation insurance, as well.

    Cancellation

You can count on us to be reasonable, understanding and flexible in applying the following cancellation policies. Fairness is our goal.

If you have to cancel more than 31 days prior, Island Joy Rides retains a $200 administration fee per person.  If you need to cancel less than 31 days before the trip starts, Island Joy Rides will keep your deposit.  If IJR has to cancel a trip, you’ll receive a full refund.

Full payment for your trip is due 30 days before your trip begins. Please contact us if circumstances might delay your full payment so that we can ensure that your reservation and deposit are secure.

Refunds will not be given to a guest that fails to show for a tour.  We will, however, reschedule these guests or give them a credit.

Depending on how you have paid – refunds can take up to 10 days to process.

    Your Privacy

Although we have to collect some information about you in order to plan our trip and ensure your comfort and safety, we are committed to respecting your privacy and to protecting the security of your personal information. Island Joy Rides will not sell, rent, lease, trade or disclose information about our guests to third parties unless required by law.

Any personal information collected by Island Joy Rides using online forms is stored in password protected serves with limited access. However, perfect security on the Internet does not yet exist and we cannot guarantee that our transfer of data over the Internet is impenetrable or invulnerable to hackers.

    Itinerary

Island Joy Rides reserves the right to alter itineraries, when necessary.  Less than four guests, weather and hotel availability may result in a change.

    Coming and Going

Generally, our day tours can begin and end wherever you'd like. However, we do have our preferred routes that highlight our favourite things in each community so we can identify our suggested starting points if preferred.
