Chef on a Bike

Local food, drinks, cycling, friends, laughter, learning. At Island Joy Rides, we find joy in bringing together simple, yet sophisticated concepts to celebrate the abundance of natural and cultural diversity in the Comox Valley. In July 2016, we introduced a unique one-day tour ‘Chef on a Bike’, and because of the positive feedback we received, we are thrilled to host two unique and immersive ‘Chef on a Bike’ tours in 2017.

We are thrilled to be offering TWO Chef on a Bikes this summer:

Gather, Forage, and Feast with Chef Ronald from Locals

On Saturday, July 22nd, Island Joy Rides will team up again with Chef Ronald and his talented team at Locals Restaurant and Dianne MacLean, local Metis Elder and teacher of wildcrafting and foraging to present ‘Chef on a Bike: Gather, Forage, & Feast’’.  Starting at Locals, we will tour guests out to the Comox Valley Farmers’ Market, where we will be interacting and learning about the local scene from growers and producers in the region.  Then we will all jump on our bikes again for a leisurely pedal along idyllic rural roads, beautiful trails (with a special stop in the forest to learn about foraging and traditional food harvesting), and city streets to arrive at the gardens of Locals Restaurant for a sumptuous feast of local foods and libations.  See details below.

RouteBeer with Chef Aaron from White Whale

On Saturday, September 9th as our long summer days grow shorter, Island Joy Rides is teaming up with Chef Aaron and the team at White Whale for ‘Chef on a Bike: RouteBeer’ to get up close and personal with the farmers and producers of some of Vancouver Island’s most local beer.   Combining that experience with a spectacular cycling route, and an immersive feast of delicious eats that are expertly paired with the beer we’ll be drinking will make for another unique and celebratory ‘Chef on a Bike’ tour. See details below.
